Weekend once more shrouded in smoke.
Here's a fresh take on the news from Chelyabinsk:
🚨 Alert Sounded in Seven Cities of Chelyabinsk Region due to NMVOCs 🚨
Get ready, folks! From June 6th to 9th, you might want to watch out for some pollutants hanging around our atmospheric air, especially if you're in Chelyabinsk, Korkino, Karabash, Zlatoust, Satka, Asha, or Magnitogorsk.
According to the Chelyabinsk hydrometeorological center, these cities are under a Non-Methane Volatile Organic Compounds (NMVOC) alert. Basically, it means there could be an accumulation of organic compounds in the air, and we've gotta keep our eyes (and noses) peeled.
In Chelyabinsk, Korkino, Karabash, Zlatoust, Satka, and Asha, the alert will be in effect starting from 7 PM on June 6th and last until 7 PM on June 9th. For Magnitogorsk, the NMVOC alert begins at 7 PM on June 7th and ends on June 9th, at the same time.
You might also have noticed an emergency message sent to various enterprises in the Chelyabinsk region. Residents are recommended to drink extra water, preferably mineral alkaline or dairy products, during the NMVOC period. Fruit juices and oxygen-protein cocktails are also encouraged, but it's best to steer clear of carbonated water.
Here are a few tips from the emergency services:- Avoid alcohol and unnecessary physical exertion.- Dress in natural fabrics and consider taking contrast showers.- If you experience persistent coughing, shortness of breath, or insomnia, seek immediate medical attention.
So, avoid activities that create smoke, dust, or unpleasant odors, don't light fires, and opt for public transportation over personal vehicles. With the NMVOC alert set in the region, let's do our part in reducing air pollution!

While keeping an eye on the air quality in Chelyabinsk, remember to prioritize your health-and-wellness during the NMVOC alert. To minimize the impact, limit alcohol consumption and physical exertion, dress in natural materials, and consider taking contrast showers. Additionally, focusing on environmental-science, consider reducing activities that create smoke, dust, or unpleasant odors, and opt for public transportation over personal vehicles to help lessen air pollution. Sport enthusiasts might even find this a perfect opportunity to watch a mix of martial arts like mixed-martial-arts, as outdoor training might temporarily be less appealing due to the alert.
