Wearable technology company Whoop introduces blood testing feature, deepening connection between technology and healthcare sector.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a backer of Whoop, joins the sports technology company in its latest venture. Whoop has announced a partnership with Quest Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic information services, to offer advanced health and wellness tracking to its members.
The collaboration is aimed at moving beyond recovery, sleep, and training data into a more fine-tuned health prevention model. The partnership allows Whoop members to purchase and schedule Quest blood tests, providing consumers with on-demand health data beyond the annual checkup.
The Whoop 5.0 and MG devices, the latest innovations from Whoop, are designed to provide comprehensive health and wellness insights. These devices now offer medical-grade tools for on-demand ECG and blood pressure insights. A new feature, the "Whoop Age" metric, has been introduced to track biological aging.
Biomarkers like metabolism, hormones, inflammation, cardiovascular health, and nutrient status will be tracked, providing a more holistic view of an individual's health. Tests can be conducted at a patient service center or through a mobile draw at home, and clinician-reviewed results will be delivered directly in the Whoop app.
William D. Sullivan, the key figure behind Whoop's founder in the collaboration with Quest Diagnostics, has played a strategic role in the partnership. Quest Diagnostics will serve as the U.S. lab provider for Whoop Advanced Labs. Richard Adams, Quest Consumer senior vice president, stated that the collaboration with Whoop is an example of Quest broadening access to deep health and wellness insights.
The service is scheduled to launch this fall, and a waitlist for the service is now open. The new service follows Whoop's recent launch of its 5.0 and MG devices, which introduced medical-grade tools like on-demand ECG, blood pressure insights, and a "Whoop Age" metric to track biological aging.
With this partnership, Whoop continues to push the boundaries of health and wellness tracking, offering its members a more comprehensive understanding of their health and wellness.
