Veteran Actor Ilias Kanchan Fights Brain Tumour in London
Veteran Bangladeshi actor and Nirapad Sarak Chai (Nischa) Chief Ilias Kanchan is battling a brain tumour. Diagnosed in Dhaka in April, he has since moved to London for treatment. His son, Joy, has requested prayers for his swift recovery.
Kanchan's journey began at Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhanmondi, where the tumour was first detected. After a seven-month struggle, he underwent surgery at Wellington Hospital in London on 5 August, led by Prof Demetrius. However, only a portion of the tumour could be removed due to its location at a critical nerve junction, as advised against by the National Institute of Neurosciences.
Now, Kanchan is set to undergo a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The treatment will involve focused external beam radiation and chemotherapy agents like temozolomide, with 30 sessions scheduled for this month. This approach aims to target the remaining tumour and enhance his chances of recovery.
Ilias Kanchan's health has been delicate for the past seven months, with six months spent under treatment in London. As he embarks on this new phase of treatment, his family and fans hope for a positive outcome. Joy has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and requests continued prayers for his father's speedy recovery.
