Unrelenting Vacation Days Not Including Sunburn Misfortune

Channeling a breezy summer vibe with a dash of skin safety awareness, the "Sunburn Less Summer" campaign kicks off! This brainchild of the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) is all about busting sunburn myths and enlightening folks about the skin's memory of UV damage. Remember, those childhood sunburns can catch up with you, potentially leading to nasties like melanoma and numerous skin cancers down the road.

Throughout the warm months, AOA volunteers will be slightly undercover at popular sun-soaked spots, handing out informative fliers and sharing the delight of complimentary sunscreen. And, with a UV-seeing camera snatched from the generosity of NIVEA, the team will engage in interactive demos that make those UV protection levels on your skin crystal clear – especially intriguing for the youth.

So, keep an eye out for the sun safety caravan at these locales:

  • From June 30 to July 15, catch 'em at Praceta Joaquim Agostinho (Quarteira beach promenade, alongside Pizzaria Roma), Monday through Friday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Summer vacation blockbuster moves to Cais da Porta Nova, Faro, from August 4 to 22, still serving up sun safety knowledge, weekdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Though NIVEA isn't officially sponsoring the "Sunburn Less Summer" campaign in the Algarve region, the brand does partner with sun safety initiatives such as Cancer Research UK in the UK[2]. The camera tool offered for demonstrations might be a friendly nod toward raising awareness together[1].

  1. The Algarve Oncology Association's campaign, "Sunburn Less Summer," aims to distribute educational materials about skin health-and-wellness and sun safety, particularly UV protection, at Praceta Joaquim Agostinho in Quarteira and Cais da Porta Nova, Faro, during specific dates this summer.
  2. As part of their outreach, volunteers from the Algarve Oncology Association will be providing interactive demos using a UV-seeing camera donated by skin-care brand NIVEA, to help people visualize the sun protection levels on their skin.
  3. Since NIVEA is supportive of sun safety initiatives like the "Sunburn Less Summer" campaign, though not an official sponsor in the Algarve region, the brand has contributed a UV-seeing camera to aid in raising awareness about the importance of skin care and protection.
