Transport Minister Schnieder Hospitalized, Cabinet Retreat Continues
Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder was unexpectedly hospitalized during a federal cabinet retreat after collapsing due to a circulatory issue. Culture Minister Wolfram Weimer also missed the retreat's group photo, having left early due to a death in his closest ancestry.
Schnieder, who slumped at the table during the retreat, later felt better and will undergo checks as a precaution. His absence left the position of Transport Minister temporarily vacant, with no official temporary replacement or acting minister named. Weimer, who cancelled a planned visit to Thuringia on Thursday, was also absent from the retreat due to his family bereavement.
The cabinet retreat continued despite the ministers' absences. No information has been released about a specific successor to Minister Schnieder during his recovery.
