Burning for a push to boost your activity level? Who wouldn't be? What I cherish most about my day is the moment I can unwind and kick back, even if it's only for a brief spell. Yet, when I discovered I could swap some of that rest for an additional 11 years, I was nearly convinced, almost...

Living a Longer Life: The Simple Secret

Hey there! The news is buzzing with some eye-opening research that suggests you've got a lot more control over living healthy into your 90s and beyond than you might think.

These studies suggest that adopting simple lifestyle changes can significantly extend your life. For instance, tweaking your diet to include more legumes, whole grains, and nuts while reducing red and processed meats could add six to seven years to your life.

But that's just the beginning...

We've always known that exercise can boost longevity, but recent research indicates that its benefits are twice as strong as we previously thought. Staying active could potentially add as much as 11 years to your life!

Now, you might wonder, how accurate are these estimates? Well, Griffith University took evidence-based fitness research a step further. Instead of relying on survey responses, they asked participants to wear accelerometers to monitor their daily activity levels.

And guess what? The benefits of staying active couldn't be clearer. The most active individuals had a staggering 73% lower risk of death compared to their least active counterparts. To put it into perspective, a single one-hour walk could potentially earn you an extra six hours of life.

While the extremely active individuals may have already reached their longevity "max," the study revealed that the least active group had the most significant potential for health gains. If everyone in the least active quartile of the population over 40 increased their activity level to mirror the most active quartile, they might potentially live an average of 11 years longer.

So, how much exercise would you need to ramp up to? Well, it can be any type of exercise, but it would roughly be the equivalent of just under three hours of walking per day.

But remember, all the moving around you do during the day counts towards your total - from housework to going up and down stairs.

Three hours of walking daily seems like a lot, I know. It equates to between 18,000 and 30,000 steps, which can be challenging for many of us, especially since most of us struggle to meet the recommended 10,000 steps a day.

However, I've got a little secret weapon that helps boost my longevity efforts: I take daily supplements of pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) and CoQ10. These nutrients have substantial research backing them, and they support mitochondrial health and reduce oxidative stress.

Maintaining healthy mitochondria and keeping oxidative stress at bay is crucial in slowing down the aging process, hence contributing to a longer lifespan.

In the end, it's up to you to decide how much effort you want to put into living a longer, healthier life. While regular exercise and a balanced diet are essential, remember that supplements like PQQ and CoQ10 can provide an extra boost. Stay active and stay healthy!

Editor's Note: Though not directly mentioned in the research, some believe that maintaining a properly alkalized body can lead to increased energy, weight loss, improved digestion, illness prevention, and overall wellness.
