Gone are the days when the rollator was a necessity for appearances, and the belly was a concern for this classic TV host. After shedding an astonishing 73 kg, Michael Schanze - famed for shows like "1, 2 or 3", "Flitterabend", and "Kinderquatsch with Michael" - is now feeling fantastic. A recent interview with the "Bild" newspaper revealed the TV legend's exhilaration.

Weighing in at 125 kg, the self-proclaimed bon vivant who relished fine food and drink is now considerably leaner. His dramatic weight loss journey began over a year ago, and he currently weighs an impressive 73 kg less than his previous weight of 198 kg.

Michael Schanze: A Ski Acc ident Triggers Weight Gain

Even though Michael Schanze was an avid lover of outdoor activities, from water sports to tennis courts, a ski accident in 2003 forced him to retire. A 25-meter fall resulted in a spinal injury that led to sedentary living, which eventually contributed to weight gain.

"Being less active meant more belly for me," Schanze remarks, explaining his weight gain since the accident. Close to the 200-kg mark in 2023, Schanze was restricted to public appearances with a rollator due to his aching joints. But then, the entertainer made a decision that changed his life.

"In the space of one and a half years, I've gone from 198 kg to 125 kg," Schanze reckons. His secret? "I eat more mindfully, stay active as much as I can, and get a weight loss injection every Sunday." His ultimate aim: to dip below the 100 kg mark. "My next objective is to reach 100 kg," the TV star elucidates.

Michael Schanze Misses Late Partner

Just a brief while ago, Schanze experienced a heart-wrenching personal loss. "It's been ten long months, but my soul still speaks another language," he laments about the death of his partner, Uschi, in July 2024, due to a brain hemorrhage's aftermath.

Uschi was always by Schanze's side, even during tough times. "Last year, her sudden demise stunned me," he said in an August 2024 interview with "Bunte". Despite his struggles, gratitude fills him when he thinks of Uschi's unwavering support.
