Former South Dakota Teacher's Aide Sentenced for Enticement of a Minor

Duncan Sioux Witt, a former special education teacher’s aide at Douglas High School in Box Elder, South Dakota, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for enticement of a minor. The sentence, handed down by a U.S. District Judge on August 18, 2025, also includes five years of supervised release.

Witt, aged 29, was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2024 and pleaded guilty on April 30, 2025. The case details reveal that Witt began sending sexually explicit messages, images, and videos to a male student via Snapchat, inducing him to send sexually explicit pictures and videos of himself. This communication involved thousands of messages over several months.

The relationship continued even after the victim turned 18. Witt convinced her former husband to allow the victim to move into their home, provided the victim with alcohol, and began a sexual relationship with him. She also falsely told the victim she was pregnant with his child and intended to leave her marriage for him.

During the court proceedings, the victim took the stand to speak directly to Witt. Despite this, the victim did not express any remorse. In fact, the victim stated, "You're disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself," and "I hope you burn in hell." The judge, in her ruling, told Witt she believed Witt was "horribly manipulative" of the victim, calling her a predator.

The prosecutor rejected the notion of depression being the reason for the crime and requested a 10-year sentence for Witt. Witt's attorney also requested a 10-year prison sentence for her client. It is not specified if Witt's husband was charged or involved in the crime.

This sentencing serves as a reminder of the serious federal consequences for the exploitation and enticement of minors by someone in a position of trust and authority in a school setting. The article does not provide details about the school where the incident occurred.
