In the latest episode of the "May Way" podcast on Bild, Dutch moderator Sylvie Meis discussed her experience with breast cancer 16 years ago, which she described as a seismic event.

Diagnosed with the disease in 2009, Meis recounted feeling terrified when she discovered a lump in her breast. The memories, she acknowledges, still resonate with her daily. While reflecting on her experience, Meis expressed gratitude for having survived the ordeal, though she acknowledged it was an extremely intense period in her life.

Meis revealed that she had openly shared her breast cancer diagnosis in June 2009. Surgical removal of the tumor and subsequent chemotherapy caused her to lose her hair. In 2010, she participated in RTL's dance show "Let's Dance," an experience that culminated in a significant moment when she publicly removed her wig and showed her short hair after cancer treatment.

Meis co-hosted "Let's Dance" with Daniel Hartwich from 2011 to 2017 following her participation in the show. Prior to her career as a moderator, Meis was known in Germany as the wife of former footballer Rafael van der Vaart. The couple were married from 2005 and had a son, Damian, in May 2006. In 2013, the couple went through a high-profile breakup and subsequent divorce, with Meis stating that they are now "good friends" again.
