Siemens Healthineers Bolsters Manipal Hospice's Rehabilitation Section Through Significant Corporate Social Responsibility Aid
The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has received a significant boost in its efforts to provide comprehensive care for terminally ill patients, thanks to a generous contribution from Siemens Healthineers India. The global healthcare solutions provider has donated Rs. 1 crore to support the development of the Therapy Block at the Manipal Hospice and Respite Centre (MHRC).
The Therapy Block, spanning approximately 6,100 square feet, is equipped to provide comprehensive rehabilitative and supportive care. It features dedicated spaces for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, mind-body therapy, speech and swallow therapy, home-based occupational therapy, and counseling. The facility is designed to enhance the comfort, independence, and dignity of patients by addressing their physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
The MHRC is unique as it is the first hospice in India affiliated with both a hospital and a university, making it strongly embedded within academic and clinical settings. It is the second largest hospice in India, serving patients with both cancer and non-cancer conditions, and provides respite and end-of-life care for adults and children. The hospice became operational from June 2025, following its inauguration in May 2025.
Hariharan Subramanian, Managing Director of Siemens Healthcare Pvt Limited, emphasized that this partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering positive health outcomes and enhancing societal well-being within the communities served. The Vice Chancellor of MAHE highlighted the importance of this support in advancing the mission to deliver specialized, empathetic, and academically rooted healthcare in India.
This collaboration exemplifies how partnerships between industry leaders like Siemens Healthineers and academic institutions such as MAHE can transform care delivery and support healthcare providers across the entire patient care continuum, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare.
MAHE, currently ranked 4th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), offers over 400 specializations across various streams: Health Sciences, Management, Law, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Technology & Science. It is the preferred choice for students seeking a transformative learning experience and an enriching campus life. The university's constituent units are located at campuses in Manipal, Mangalore, Bengaluru, Jamshedpur, and Dubai.
In October 2020, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, awarded MAHE the prestigious Institution of Eminence status. The university is also the preferred choice for national and multi-national corporates looking for top talent. The Therapy Block at the Manipal Hospice and Respite Centre is a significant addition to MAHE's already impressive infrastructure, further solidifying its position as a leading academic institution.
