School Incident Involving Irritant Gas: 20 Students Report Respiratory Discomfort
In the Kesselstadt district of Hanau, South East Hesse, an incident took place at a comprehensive school on Monday afternoon. Emergency services, including ambulances and three police units, were swiftly deployed to the school located on Kleinfellerstraße.
Initial findings suggest that an unknown individual, approximately 1.70 meters tall with a youthful appearance, released tear gas at the school. Many students reported respiratory irritation and required medical treatment. The fire brigade was called in and subsequently ventilated the affected building.
The police are currently investigating the incident for dangerous bodily harm. The information about who presumably deployed the tear gas, possibly using pepper spray, is not publicly available at this time.
Some students reported hearing a noise, which may suggest the use of a so-called pepper gun. The individual is believed to have worn a 'Gucci' baseball cap and 'Nike' sneakers, and carried a waist bag.
In total, 20 students - six girls and 14 boys - were registered as lightly injured. Two of them were taken to the hospital for further examination.
