Elisabeth Hospital in Eutin Expands and Renovates, Marking a Significant Milestone

The Elisabeth Hospital, a prominent healthcare provider in the region, has recently undergone an expansion and renovation project. The hospital, originally established in 1932 as an outpatient clinic of the "Grey Sisters," has grown over the years to become a modern, quality-oriented employer.
The expansion, which began in 2018, was initially planned for two floors. However, due to increasing demand for geriatric care, it was expanded to include an additional two floors. The new building, which has been constructed at the back of the old hospital, now boasts 62 comfortable single rooms and 18 double rooms, most of which feature balconies.
The state and municipalities contributed significantly to the project, with around 27 million euros coming from them, making up 84% of the total 32 million euros invested in the new building. This investment underscores the importance of the project and the hospital's role in the community.
During the ceremonial opening, an ecumenical service was held to consecrate the new building. Dirk Beutin, the CEO of the Elisabeth Hospital, emphasized the significance of the project during the service. The new building was consecrated as a place of love for one's neighbor, reflecting the hospital's commitment to caring for its patients.
The hospital will now have a total of 154 beds after the completion of the expansion and renovation. The beds will be divided between palliative medicine (22 beds) and geriatrics (132 places). This expansion will undoubtedly enhance the hospital's ability to serve the over 3,000 patients who use its services each year.
The hospital's staff has also grown in recent years, increasing from 160 to 280 employees. This growth reinforces the hospital's status as a quality employer in the region.
In addition to the new building, an insect-friendly dementia and therapy garden is soon to be completed in the outdoor area of the hospital. This garden will provide a peaceful and therapeutic space for patients and staff alike.
