Feelin' the Itch? Grass Pollen Season's Here for Allergy Suffers in Berlin & Brandenburg

Challenging circumstances for allergy sufferers due to high pollen counts from grass. - Potential Danger for Allergy Sufferers: Excessive Pollen Levels Alert

Listen up, sneezers! Here's the skinny: Berlin and Brandenburg's got a bumper crop of grass pollen floating around. Matthias Werchan, from the Pollen Info Service (PID), spills the beans: "May's weather change was like a green light for grasses to explode."

Averaging 50 grass pollen per cubic meter isn't a high? Ha, here's the kicker: with those blooming grass species running wild, we're often seeing over 100 pollen per cubic meter. No wonder the grass is getting to us!

Wind's been spreading the pollen throughout the city, even reaching Berlin's leafy heart. "Feeling it everywhere," says landscape ecologist Werchan.

Berlin's also got more blossoming grassy spots than before, thanks to less mowing to protect critters. On the other hand, Brandenburg's rye fields are mostly fading and aren't adding much to the pollen load.

Don't fret about that white, cotton-like stuff flying around—it's poplar seeds, or poplar fluff, assures Werchan. No trigger for allergies there, kiddo!

Now, about the Pentecost weekend: Werchan predicts it'll be changeable and cool, giving allergy peeps a break. Grass grows slower at the cold, so rain will wash away the pollen—yippee!

Stay in the know about the current pollen forecast by hitting up the PID's website. And remember: grass pollen AIN'T your friend, allergy peeps!
