Over 390 people undergo post-COVID recovery treatments in Almaty
Rewritten Article
In Kazakhstan, around 400 individuals have undergone post-COVID-19 recovery treatments, as per Tleukhan Abildaev, the director of the Almaty branch of the National Social Medical Insurance Fund (NSMIF).
"Enlarging the pool of post-COVID-19 rehabilitation service providers is among the fund's main priorities," Abildaev stated. Currently, the service is being provided at the Rehabilitation Center for Phthisiopulmonology 'Kamenskoe Plato'.
The NSMIF has doled out a whopping 15.8 billion tenge for medical services to treat COVID-19 patients in Almaty from January to June, and 2.5 billion tenge for PCR tests for over 313,000 citizens.
Medical professionals involved in anti-epidemic activities in Almaty received bonuses totalling 18.3 billion tenge for 42,559 people during the first half of 2021, as per the fund's records.
Approximately 53.6 billion tenge was allocated by the NSMIF in the first half of the year for the provision of healthcare services to insured Almaty residents.
The global health scenario paints a picture of growing focus on managing post-COVID syndrome (long COVID), which typically necessitates comprehensive rehabilitation programs. Kazakhstan, nestled in this global context, might need similar services.
Despite the absence of specific data, it's worth noting that general rehabilitation services for neurological and other chronic conditions are usually accessible. However, these services may not directly cater to long COVID.
As for future growth, the WHO has advocated for increased recognition and research into long COVID, suggesting a rising international emphasis on rehabilitation services tailored for post-COVID conditions. In the local context, this nascent focus on long COVID could lead to the expansion of post-COVID rehabilitation services in Kazakhstan, aligning with broader healthcare development initiatives.
Yet, specific plans for Almaty are not detailed in the available data. For precise, up-to-date information, it would be prudent to consult local health department reports or updates.
