Our Operations

The SIO (Scripps Institution of Oceanography) Human Resources (HR) team, based at Scripps Administration, 8622 Kennel Way, La Jolla, CA 92093, plays a crucial role in supporting the academic and research staff at UC San Diego. This dedicated team, with its mission to deliver responsive, practical HR guidance and services, partners with SIO leadership, departmental HR contacts, and campus offices to ensure the smooth running of HR operations.

Led by Camillia "Camie" King, the VCMS Staff HR Director, and Nadine Ferguson, the VCMS Volunteer HR Coordinator, the team is also supported by Daisy T. Do, the DO/MSDC Staff HR Coordinator, and Daisy Flores, the Student HR Assistant. The team's role encompasses supporting the full employee lifecycle, from hiring to retirement, and fostering a productive and positive workplace. They manage all aspects of the faculty recruitment process, from scheduling interviews to handling logistical arrangements, and ensure the timely preparation and accuracy of academic personnel files. They also advise on employee and labor relations, staffing and classification, compensation, performance management, training, and workforce planning.
