Elderly Actress Marie-Luise Marjan Slows Down After Hip Fracture
Marie-Luise Marjan, popularly known as Mother Beimer from the long-running German series "Lindenstraße," is currently in recovery after sustaining a hip fracture in June 2024. The 84-year-old actress, who will turn 85 on August 9, is adapting to the circumstances as she slows down, using a walker or cane for mobility.
In an interview with the German Press Agency, Marjan spoke about her current situation, emphasizing the importance of patience during recovery, as advised by her doctor. Recovery from hip fracture surgery in elderly patients typically involves early mobilization starting the day after surgery, with physical therapy and rehabilitation continuing for weeks to months. Most patients can expect to resume regular activities within two to three months, but full recovery and regaining strength and mobility may take longer, depending on individual factors such as age, frailty, and pre-existing health conditions.
However, Marjan's recovery is taking longer than expected. She is currently living in Bonn and taking a daily nap to help with her recovery. Despite the challenges, Marjan remains optimistic, believing that after a certain age, one cannot maintain their usual pace.
