Officials intensify efforts to address counterfeit makeup associated with a popular singer on our platform
VIETNAM - The Drug Administration of Vietnam has withdrawn the Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) certification from EBC Đòng Nai Medical Factory JSC, a manufacturer linked to celebrated singer and actress Đoàn Di Băng, due to investigations into counterfeit cosmetics.
The revocation, announced this week, also includes a six-month suspension for VB Group, the trading and service company represented by Đoàn Di Băng's husband, from registering new cosmetic products. This action comes after discoveries of violations of safety standards in four cosmetic products endorsed by the singer.
Local authorities have recalled several items, such as Hanayuki shampoo and sunscreen, due to serious quality issues, including incorrect SPF ratings and missing ingredients, causing public concern. The Đòng Nai Department of Health has initiated legal proceedings against the Hanayuki Sunscreen Body in response to these concerns.
Numerous counterfeit products, including fake medicines and substandard health supplements, have recently surfaced in Vietnam, leading to public outcry. In response, the Ministry of Health has organized 15 inspection teams to monitor the pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, traditional medicine, dairy products, and medical equipment sectors across the nation.
Đoàn Di Băng, a former singer and actress who actively promotes beauty products on her social media, is one of several celebrities under fire for misleading advertising and overstating the benefits of their products. Recently, six individuals, including two influencers and a beauty queen, have been arrested for selling counterfeit food products.

In the case of Hanayuki cosmetics, a laboratory test by the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute found that the sunscreen's SPF was far below the claimed efficacy. Đoàn Di Băng has publically stated that the fault lies with the manufacturer and factory, while both she and her husband have allegedly suffered financial and reputational damage.
