The Lyskov Central District Hospital's neurology department has received a massive facelift. With a budget of approximately 9 million rubles, the renovation has revamped the water, drainage, ventilation, and heating systems, installed new electrical wiring, and spruced up the architectural design of the department.

Alexander Pushkarev, the hospital's chief physician, shares his enthusiasm, "Not only have we streamlined the operational functions, but we've also significantly enlarged the wards for a brighter, more spacious environment, and oxygen is now available for each bed. All furniture, soft furnishings, and essential facilities have been replaced."

More than 850 patients seek care in this department annually, primarily those dealing with acute cerebrovascular accidents and various neurological conditions like epilepsy, radiculitis, chronic and acute pain, and inflammatory nerve diseases. Angelina Melnikova, the head of the neurology department, applauds the medical team for their consistent round-the-clock monitoring of patients, ensuring swift responses to various illnesses and proper pain management.

The "Longevity and Active Life" national project, initiated in 2025 under the guidance of Russian President Vladimir Putin, aims to boost life expectancy to 2030. This project encompasses the upgrading of medical facilities, more qualified medical personnel, advanced rehabilitation systems, and digitalization in the healthcare industry.

The project is extensive, incorporating 11 federal projects focusing on subjects like healthcare, staff development, emergency care, research centers, digital platforms, rehabilitation, and prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases. By enhancing hospitals like the Lyskov Central District one, these projects aim to improve the healthcare sector, ensuring better patient outcomes.

A thorough overhaul of the neurology department is neither a simple nor an inexpensive task. Equipment upgrades, structural improvements, staff training, and temporary relocation expenses can amount to a substantial sum. Yet, these investments are critical for maintaining quality patient care and keeping up with current healthcare standards. The renovation's timeline comprises several stages, including planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning, which combined might take several months to a year. However, the end result should undoubtedly yield modern, efficient facilities, enabling healthcare providers to continue delivering top-notch care to their patients.

  1. The upgraded neurology department at Lyskov Central District Hospital will now focus on a wide range of health-and-wellness issues, including mental-health concerns and neurological-disorders like epilepsy, radiculitis, and inflammatory nerve diseases.
  2. As part of the "Longevity and Active Life" national project, a greater emphasis will be placed on addressing not only acute cerebrovascular accidents but also chronic diseases, with the ultimate goal of improving life expectancy by 2030.
  3. With the comprehensive renovation and modernization of departments like the neurology department, the various federal projects under this national initiative aim to digitalize the healthcare industry and provide patients with quality care that aligns with current healthcare standards.
