Hospital affiliated with university assumes control of Pfeiffer's clinic network - Medical Center Uniklinik Takes Over Clinics Once Belonging to the Pfeiffer Foundation
In a significant shift, Magdeburg University Hospital has snagged two hospitals and a Medical Supply Center from Pfeiffersche Stiftungen. The notarial formalities of the takeover deal have been finalized, according to the university hospital. The hospitals in question are the Lungenklinik Lostau in Jerichower Land and the one located within Magdeburg itself.
Lars Timm, development board member of Pfeiffersche Stiftungen, speaks highly of the new care model devised by the University Hospital, assuring its continued operation.
The Medical Director of Magdeburg University Hospital, Hans-Jochen Heinze, affirms their commitment to preserving high-quality patient care while ensuring the long-term sustainability of all locations.
Prior to this development, Pfeiffersche Stiftungen, a prominent healthcare conglomerate in Saxony-Anhalt, oversaw not only these hospitals but also outpatient nursing services and disability housing options. Recently, the company initiated a restructuring process, initiating an umbrella procedure. All business operations will carry on as usual.
The takeover is slated to occur on August 1st, with key officials such as Armin Willingmann, Minister of Science and the supervisory board chairman of the university hospital, praising the institution's accomplishment. Petra Grimm-Benne, Health Minister of the region, expresses gratitude towards the university hospital for maintaining the locations and presenting opportunities for the staff.
The main reason behind the financial predicament of the Pfeiffersche Stiftungen hospitals was the escalating costs of materials and labor in the clinics. Further information regarding the magnitude of those deficits remains undisclosed.
