Large Grayish-Brown Dog Bites Person on Dryden Rail Trail

Health officials in Tompkins County are searching for a large, grayish-brown dog that bit a person on the Dryden Rail Trail on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Keith Lane bridge around 3 p.m. while the victim was interacting with another dog.

The biting dog is described as large with short grayish-brown fur. It was accompanied by another large dog, resembling a Bernese Mountain Dog. The owner of the biting dog is believed to be a man aged between 25 and 35 years old.

Authorities need to locate the biting dog to observe it for 10 days and confirm it doesn't have rabies. If the dog remains unfound, the bite victim may require a series of rabies shots. Anyone who spots the dog or knows its whereabouts is urged to contact local authorities immediately.

The search for the biting dog continues. Residents are advised to avoid contact with unfamiliar animals and report any sightings to help ensure the safety of the community.
