Illegally crosses the intersection while driving
In the early hours of this morning, a collision between a cyclist and a 5-series BMW occurred on Stapenhorststraße in Bielefeld. The driver involved in the accident, a 68-year-old resident of the city, failed to yield to the cyclist, resulting in a collision.
According to the police report, the cyclist was traveling westbound on Stapenhorststraße at around 06:55 AM. The driver, having taken the exit towards Stapenhorststraße and merged into the left lane, proceeded straight across the intersection instead of turning left as the traffic light indicated. This action resulted in a crash with the cyclist, who was riding a pedelec.
The impact of the crash caused minor damage to the vehicle, but the cyclist sustained severe injuries. The cyclist, a 64-year-old man from Melle, was immediately hospitalized for further observation.
