Almonte General Hospital Introduces New Paid Parking System

Starting mid-August 2025, Almonte General Hospital (AGH) will implement a new gated, paid parking system. Visitors will be required to pay a $5 fee for up to 24 hours of parking with in-and-out access 1[5].

This move aligns AGH's parking policies with those of Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital and most Ontario hospitals, creating consistency across the region 1. The $5 fee is among the lowest hospital parking rates in the area.

The primary aim of this initiative is to reinvest the generated revenue directly into patient care, hospital operations, and facility management. This funding is intended to support the long-term sustainability of local health services and help maintain high-quality care close to home 1.

The Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) has emphasised that the decision was carefully considered to protect the services and infrastructure that patients and families rely on and to maintain safe, high-quality care across their sites 1.

Fairview Manor residents will receive one complimentary pass to be displayed in lot #4. For frequent visitors, weekly, monthly, and annual pass options will also be available. For more information, please contact [email protected] 1.

Organisations operating at the hospital will also be impacted by the new parking fees. The visitor and staff lots at AGH Fairview Manor will be credit and debit or staff parking pass access only 1.

The implementation of the new parking system may cause inconvenience, according to MRHA president and CEO Brad Harrington 1. However, the hospital assures that they will work to ensure parking costs do not become a barrier to accessing care.

The new parking system will charge a $5 daily fee covering a 24-hour period with in-and-out access. It is worth noting that the parking fees at AGH will remain among the lowest in the region 1.

  1. The implementation of the new paid parking system at Almonte General Hospital (AGH) aims to generate revenue for investments in patient care, hospital operations, and facility management, including maintaining high-quality health services, as stated by the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA).
  2. The lower parking rates at AGH will help keep costs manageable, especially since many regional hospitals, including Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, already have similar policies.
  3. Although the new parking system may result in additional costs for some visitors, the hospital assures that they will work diligently to ensure reasonable access for everyone, particularly Fairview Manor residents who will receive a complimentary pass.
  4. The new parking system at AGH may extend beyond the hospital area to also impact organizations operating on the premises, such as visitor and staff lots at the AGH Fairview Manor, which will now be credit and debit card or staff parking pass access only.
