Health Insurer DAK-Health Seeks "Faces for a Healthy Togetherness" in Brandenburg

Brandenburg, Germany: Health insurance provider DAK-Health has launched the fifth edition of its competition for projects promoting health, prevention, and social cohesion in the region. Entitled "Faces for a Healthy Togetherness," the initiative aims to recognise and support organizations, groups, and businesses that epitomize these values.

According to a recent Forsa survey commissioned by DAK-Health, 61% of Germans view the state of social cohesion in society as 'rather bad' or 'very bad.' As a response, the competition seeks to highlight the positive impact that better social interactions can have on overall health and well-being.

Interested participants can apply online at www.dak.de/gesichter before September 15, 2025. Awards are set to be given at both regional and national levels, with cash prizes totalling around 40,000 euros.

Brandenburg's Minister President Dr. Dietmar Woidke expressed his enthusiasm for the competition, stating, "For the fifth time, DAK-Health is providing a platform for those who are socially engaged in our country. Over the years, we have come across some truly heartwarming individuals and intriguing projects that have enriched our social fabric."

Anke Grubitz, state manager for DAK-Health, emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting grassroots initiatives, especially in challenging times. "There are many people who take the time to help others. Unfortunately, many of these efforts go unnoticed. We want to give this commitment a face and show our appreciation through our competition."

Projects eligible for the competition include special exercise programs for seniors and children, projects aimed at drug prevention in schools, and interactive anti-stress courses in businesses. This year, voluntary care is given particular emphasis, with a special prize awarded for this category.

A jury consisting of Christian Goerke, member of the Bundestag, Silvia Lehmann, former member of the Bundestag, Kristy Augustin, member of the state parliament and vice-president of the state sports association, Katharina Wiegmann, specialist for age and care in the neighbourhood, and Carla Kniestedt, former member of the state parliament, will determine the top three "Faces for a Healthy Togetherness" in Brandenburg. The regional champions will then compete in the national finale for a chance to win one of the national prizes.

DAK-Gesundheit, which boasts over 5.5 million insured members, including more than 250,000 in Brandenburg, is one of Germany's largest health insurance companies. More information about the competition, including the registration form, can be found online at: www.dak.de/gesichter.

The "Healthy Togetherness 2025" survey was conducted by the Forsa Institute from March 21 to 28, 2025, with 1,007 people aged 18 and over nationwide.

The competition "Faces for a Healthy Togetherness" by DAK-Health recognizes and supports organizations working towards health, prevention, and mental-health in Brandenburg, with the aim of showcasing the positive impact on overall health-and-wellness. Projects focusing on voluntary care, special exercise programs for seniors and children, drug prevention, and stress management are encouraged to apply.
