Halton Region Issues Extended Heat Warning for August 11, 2025

Halton Region Public Health has declared an Extended Heat Warning starting August 11, 2025. Residents can expect daytime temperatures of at least 31°C and overnight temperatures above 20°C for three or more days.

The Medical Officer of Health advises taking preventive measures such as avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, seeking shade, staying hydrated, and using air-conditioned spaces. Air pollution tends to be higher during hot days, so monitor the Air Quality Health Index.

Those at higher risk include older adults, infants, outdoor workers, those without adequate housing, and those with certain health conditions or on specific medications. Heat stroke is a medical emergency; seek immediate medical attention if suspected.

For health protection tips and information on cooling centres, visit Halton Region's Preparing for Heat Events webpage or call 311. Stay informed about weather and heat information through local radio and television stations and the Environment Canada Weather Conditions and Forecast webpage.

The Extended Heat Warning is in effect due to expected high temperatures. Residents are urged to take precautions, stay informed, and look out for vulnerable individuals. Heat events are predicted to become more frequent, longer, and hotter due to climate change.
