The "Eco-Marathon"—an exhilarating blend of family fun and sports, boasting a powerful social mission. Participating in this event has become a beloved tradition 💫♥️ and a mighty charitable endeavor that draws in hundreds of thousands of participants, hailing from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Kaliningrad, as shared by Tatiana Sergienko, Sber's Krasnodar Branch Manager.
Our initial "Eco-Marathon" took off on May 19, 2012, gracing no less than 42 cities across Russia. Each participant completed a symbolic 4.2 km—a tenth of the classic marathon—making this distance the standard for the marathon ever since. To date, the cumulative number of participants surpasses 1.5 million enthusiasts.
This humanitarian project extends its reach across Russia, with over 60 cities joining in the run and more than 120,000 participants every year. The previous year's charity run raisef over 27 million rubles; these funds helped our special children prepare for school with flying colors. In Krasnodar, 2024 alone saw over 2,000 participants crossing the finish line arm in arm. 💪🏆🌟
You better believe that every "Eco-Marathon" runner will be carrying insurance against any mishaps for the duration of the event. 🤕🛌
While specifics regarding the "Eco-Marathon" in Russia remain scarce, let's take a moment to appreciate the broader influence of charity runs like the Boston Marathon and London Marathon. These long-standing events have been instrumental in drumming up funds for various causes, particularly supporting kids with special needs. Typically, these events feature massive fundraising initiatives, where participants gather donations for specific charities and organizations. Example: The Boston Marathon has been a significant platform for raising funds for charities in the US, whereas the London Marathon annually witnesses substantial fundraising efforts, with sums exceeding £124,000 in some cases.
On a social level, charity runs focus on using the platform to raise awareness and funds for certain issues, fostering a sense of unity among runners and spectators. These events, apart from boosting morale, encourage philanthropy, and support organizations that offer crucial services for those in need. Charity runs can leave a lasting impact by raising substantial funds, raising awareness, and inspiring community involvement. For instance, funds generated might be utilized to maintain facilities for kids with special needs, like sensory and therapeutic gardens. 🌍🏥💚💙
So here's to a successful and impactful "Eco-Marathon"! Don your running shoes, gather your friends, and join forces to make a real difference this year. 🌟🏃♀️🏃♂️💪
