Fundraising campaign launched by United Way Halton & Hamilton aims to collect $12 million: 90 participant teams hauled a 200,000 lb airplane as a part of the money-raising event.

In a remarkable display of community spirit, over 2,000 people gathered at Hamilton International Airport for the largest UPS Plane Pull event to date. The event, which involved pulling a 200,000-pound aircraft fifty feet across the tarmac, not only showcased the collective strength of those in attendance but also raised over $300,000 for United Way Halton & Hamilton.

The funds raised will play a crucial role in the organisation's 2025 fundraising campaign, which aims to raise a total of $12 million. This ambitious goal reflects the urgency and responsibility to ensure stability for the 124 essential community programs supported through United Way.

In 2024, United Way Halton & Hamilton supported over 226,500 individuals and families across Burlington, Halton Hills, Hamilton, Milton, and Oakville. These programs address a wide range of issues, including food insecurity, housing stability, youth mentorship, mental health, and supports for seniors.

Sadly, half of all supported United Way programs already face waitlists, highlighting the ongoing need for support. While no specific information about generous donors or companies supporting United Way Halton & Hamilton in 2025 or the amounts they donated is available, the organisation remains optimistic about reaching its $12 million goal.

One of the highlights of the day was the participation of more than 90 teams, including an all-female team, who came together to support their community. The event was the launch pad for United Way Halton & Hamilton's 2025 fundraising campaign, a testament to the power of collective action in making a difference.

As the dust settles on the UPS Plane Pull event, the focus now shifts to the crucial work ahead. United Way Halton & Hamilton remains committed to supporting those in need and ensuring that everyone in the region has access to the essential services they require to thrive.
