OneMRI Revolutionizes Preventative Healthcare in Australia

The global preventative healthcare tech and services market is on an upward trajectory, with forecasts predicting significant expansion over the next decade. According to a leading 2025 report, the market size is projected to grow from around USD 330.6 billion in 2024 to USD 1028.3 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10.87% during 2025-2035.

Key drivers fueling this growth include the increasing emphasis on early detection and screening technologies, rising incidence and financial burdens of chronic diseases, government initiatives and population-based screening and vaccination programs, adoption of wearable health monitoring devices, and direct-to-consumer genomic testing. Regional growth hotspots include North America and Asia-Pacific.

OneMRI, a new Australian start-up, contributes significantly to this market with its focus on whole-body MRI scans aimed at early disease detection before symptoms arise. By offering a comprehensive, non-invasive screening that can identify multiple conditions in a single imaging session, OneMRI aligns closely with the market’s expansion in early detection technologies and screening services.

OneMRI is designed for the early detection of over 500 potential conditions, including cancers, metabolic disorders, autoimmune conditions, spinal degeneration, and brain aneurysms. The company has secured $2.5 million in seed funding to accelerate its expansion across Australia.

The co-founders of OneMRI, Vu Tran and Andrew Barnes, previously achieved unicorn status with their education start-up Go1 in 2021. Dr Vu Tran, co-founder and head of medical at OneMRI, stated that wellness and preventive health are only going to grow as sectors, with technology playing a critical role in their evolution.

OneMRI's imaging is intended to complement, not replace, diagnostic tests for specific medical concerns. The start-up partners with underutilised clinics to deliver its services without placing additional strain on Australia's healthcare resources. More than 100 MRI machines across Australia operate at just 30% capacity.

OneMRI provides pre-and-post-scan consultations with qualified clinicians and care coordinators to help patients understand their results and potential next steps. Gopi Sara, an investor in OneMRI, is a former McKinsey employee and a prolific angel investor.

Radiology is one of the most underutilised tools in preventive care, according to OneMRI, and whole-body MRI scans offer a safe, multi-system snapshot in a single, radiation-free investigation. As OneMRI's innovative imaging service complements and propels the overall growth trend in the global preventive healthcare technologies and services market through enhanced early diagnostic capabilities, it is poised to make a significant impact on preventative healthcare in Australia.
