Evidence to dispute assertions about Brigitte Macron's transgender identity, as claimed, to be presented using scientific data
The French President, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Brigitte Macron, are set to provide scientific evidence to disprove transphobic allegations made by far-right influencer Candace Owens. The trial, taking place on the BBC's "Fame Under Fire" podcast, is expected to provide expert scientific testimony.
The Macrons have brought legal action against Owens this summer for defamatory statements made in the United States. Their American lawyer, Tom Clare, has stated that the president and his spouse are prepared to demonstrate the falsehood of Owens' allegations in court.
Candace Owens, who has made these allegations repeatedly, has previously accused the Macrons of using the suit to try to bully a reporter into submission. However, the Macrons are confident in their ability to prove the falsehood of Owens' allegations in an open forum.
Brigitte Macron, a mother of three, met Emmanuel Macron while she was teaching at a high school in Amiens, where he was her student. The allegations made by Owens concern the personal life and gender identity of Brigitte Macron.
Tom Clare has also stated that Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, would testify during the trial. The expert who will testify for the Macrons to prove their statements against Candace Owens is Alexandre Cuignache.
The trial process has been described as incredibly intrusive for the Macron family. The so-called Streisand effect, where an attempt to hide or remove information has the unintended consequence of publicising the information widely, has been mentioned as a potential risk in the lawsuit against Candace Owens.
Emmanuel Macron stated that he and his wife had to sue Candace Owens to have the truth respected. The Macrons are planning to provide scientific evidence to disprove the allegations and are hopeful for a fair trial.
