Eric Dane, in a recent video, voices his support for finding a cure for ALS by showcasing the advancement of the disease in a visual manner.
Eric Dane Launches ALS Fundraising Campaign Amid Health Battles
Actor Eric Dane, best known for his role in "Grey's Anatomy," has partnered with the organization "I AM ALS" to launch the "Push for Progress" campaign. The campaign aims to accelerate ALS research, expand treatment access, and secure $1 billion in federal funding for ALS over the next three years.
Dane, who is 52 years old, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in April. In June, he revealed that he has "one functioning arm," and predicted that he might lose function in his left arm and hand within a few months.
Dane appeared in a campaign video for I AM ALS, which was shared on his Instagram account on Monday. In the video, he spoke about the heartbreaking progression of his ALS and urged his followers to visit the I AM ALS website to donate to the cause. His speech concluded with the statement, "Get involved and be a part of pushing for progress."
The funds raised will be used to renew the landmark law ACT for ALS, get promising treatments to thousands of patients like Dane, and push towards ending ALS. The goal of the Push for Progress campaign is to raise a billion dollars over the next three years.
Dane's diagnosis of ALS forced him to miss the planned reunion at the Emmys 2025. Despite this, he presented the award for outstanding directing for a drama series at the ceremony alone.
Dane is currently dating filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff. His former wife is Rebecca Gayheart.
Dane's appearance in the campaign video marks a significant step in his advocacy for ALS awareness and research. His courage and determination serve as an inspiration to many, as he continues to fight against the debilitating disease.
