In the heart of Eichsfeld, a small town named Uder, witnessed a remarkable display of community spirit on July 13th. A charity event, initiated by Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht, was held to support the Otto family, who have been facing a challenging time due to the illness of Ilona Otto.

The event was a response to the family's struggle from November to May, during which they tried to manage alone and many things went wrong due to overwhelm. However, with the support of the community, they were able to find some normality and peace, preventing them from becoming ill or breaking down from exhaustion.

Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht expressed his gratitude to his wife Eva, Martha Otto, and the godparents of the children, Edeka Schneider, and Markus Thunert, for their invaluable contributions to the event's success. The support extended beyond these individuals, with the youth office, the health office, the hospice association Reifenstein, the Reipert, Baumgartner families, and the Rosenthal family also lending a helping hand.

The event provided more than just financial aid. It included free haircuts for the children, vouchers from the hairdresser's island Simone, the riding stable, the nail studio, the Klausenhof, and the SPZ. Siegfried Jünemann provided the framework with his pictures, and the sausage team, the SWT waste bins, and the willingness to help when the family moves were among the invisible contributions that made Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht truly happy.

The money raised during the event is visible proof of the community's support, with the donation account for the family growing to a four-digit amount, including donations received before and since the event. Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht promises to manage the money carefully and use it sensibly for the family, especially the children.

The event brought the topic of cancer out of the taboo zone and brought many people together to do something good. Despite some negative feedback, Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht stands by his actions and is saddened by missed opportunities in a time when people are seeking stability and faith. He thanks the home association and the understanding of the residents, without whom such an event would not have been possible.

The Otto family is from Birkenfelde, now part of Uder. Jörg-Olaf Lamprecht expresses hope for a long, shared life for the family and feels responsible for the three children. The mother is preparing for an upcoming operation, and the family is waiting for the results. They are also preparing to find a suitable vessel for "Erwin," the symbolic name for Ilona Otto's cancer.

The account is still open for donors. If you wish to contribute, you can find more information about the donation process. Let's continue to support the Otto family in their journey and bring a little more peace and normality into their lives.
