In Wiesbaden, preliminary data revealed that Ascension Day, also known as Father's Day, witnessed 287 traffic accidents involving alcohol across Germany in 2024. This number surpassed that of any other day throughout the year according to the Federal Statistical Office.

On average, around 95 alcohol-related traffic accidents occurred daily in Germany last year. Overall, an estimated total of 34,700 such accidents took place in 2024.

Despite the higher number of incidents compared to previous years, there was a slight decrease in alcohol-related accidents on Father's Day compared to 2023. The Federal Statistical Office recorded 340 such accidents in 2023 and 319 in 2022.

Out of the 287 accidents reported on Father's Day 2024, 204 resulted in injuries; the highest number recorded for any day in the year. Among these, 58 individuals sustained serious injuries, and one person lost their life.
