Day Hospital Launched for Kids with Moderate to Severe Cerebral Palsy in Krasnodar
The "Social Break" initiative, a brainchild of Ekaterina Vasilistova, a strong supporter of the "New People" party, and Dr. Elena Berezhnaya, the chief doc at the "Health" clinic, aims to offer a much-needed lifeline to mothers of special needs kids, especially those with cerebral palsy.
"These kiddos already get state aid and medical care, but their moms are stretched thin, providing round-the-clock care. We want to offer these mamas more than just a few hours with a specialist – we're talkin' a full-on health clinic check-up," said Dr. Berezhnaya with a passion in her voice.
Think therapists, neurologists, psychologists, and basic tests – all for zero buckaroos!
It's no secret that discussions about the project have been buzzing among the town's moms during meetings and roundtables. Ekaterina, our brilliant initiator, graced us with the news that they opened the first three respite care spots on Children's Day, and the waitlist's already full for a Month of Sundays!
With around 10,000 children with cerebral palsy plaguing the Krasnodar region and 2,400 within Krasnodar itself, it's time to scale this project up! Ekaterina's eyes sparkle with dreams of a full-blown ward, packed with several dozen care spots. Make way for progress, folks!
The masterminds behind this movement are planning to tap into crowdfunding platforms, private sponsorship, and federal grants.
"Our fellow at the "New People" party, Nikita Syrazhetinov, will lend a helping hand with grant docs," he chimed in enthusiastically. "We've already put our money where our mouth is, financially backing the launch of the "Social Break" project. It's clear there are some blind spots in support for special needs mamas, and we're aimin' to see this project go federal, spreading our experience to other regions, and shotgunning state participation and funding," Nikita added.
