Daughter of Reiner Calmund: "My father sacrificed his entire half-life for me"
Reiner Calmund, the former football manager and popular juror on RTL's "Grill den Henssler," has experienced a significant transformation in his personal life. The 63-year-old, who currently resides in Saarlouis, made headlines not just for his departure from the show but also for his heartwarming adoption of a 15-year-old girl named Nicha.
Calmund's journey with Nicha began in an orphanage in Thailand. It was there that he first laid eyes on the young girl, and a deep affection blossomed instantly. The adoption process was finalised, and Nicha joined Calmund's family.
However, Calmund's life took an unexpected turn in December last year. While evaluating dishes on "Grill den Henssler," he felt dizzy and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Cologne. The incident led to a stent being inserted, and Calmund had to take a break from his role as a juror.
Despite the health scare, Calmund has fully recovered, according to RTL. He has also made a remarkable transformation in his physical health. In an effort to spend more quality years with his adopted daughter, Calmund embarked on a weight loss journey and has now shed approximately 85 kilograms. This significant weight loss has allowed him to be agile and mobile once again.
In a magazine interview, Calmund and Nicha shared their heartwarming story. Initially, Nicha was hesitant to leave Calmund's wife Sylvia's side, but over time, she has grown to love and cherish her new family.
Calmund's departure from "Grill den Henssler" was announced by RTL in March. Despite his absence from the show, Calmund's impact remains, and his inspiring story continues to resonate with many. His journey serves as a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the desire to create a better life.
