Construction worker tragically perishes at job site in Terrebonne.
In the heart of Terrebonne, a tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon. A 21-year-old man lost his life in a workplace accident on a construction site, according to reports.
The incident took place around 12:45 p.m. on Rue Florimond-Gauthier, where road, water pipe, and sewer works were underway. The man was crushed by the bucket of a mechanical excavator, leaving several of his colleagues in shock.
Despite rapid transport to the hospital, the young man succumbed to his injuries later in the afternoon. The bucket involved weighed approximately two tons, and the cause of how the bucket fell on the worker remains under investigation.
Authorities including police and inspectors from Quebec’s occupational health and safety board (CNESST) are jointly investigating the circumstances of the accident. They have been interviewing workers on site to gather as much information as possible.
The CNESST inspectors secured the site, examined the scene, and gathered information about the tragedy. If a formal investigation by the CNESST takes place, the process can take up to several months.
Meanwhile, the incident site remains closed due to ongoing work. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
Elsewhere, another tragic event unfolded. Isabelle Vaillancourt, magazine editor and general director of Publications BLD, passed away on Sunday. Further details about her passing are not available at this time.
In other news, Melania Trump, the first lady, made a rare public appearance, and Vincent Charbonneau, captain of the Terrebonne Police Service (SPT), confirmed the death of the construction worker at the hospital.
Lastly, it was reported that a common dolphin, a threatened species, was observed in the estuary of the St. Lawrence River. However, this news is unrelated to the events in Terrebonne and does not appear to have any connection to the workplace accident.
