Confidence-building program exclusively designed for women set to commence in September
The city of Lünen, in collaboration with the Dortmund Police Presidency, is offering a ten-session free women's self-defense course on online course platforms in 2025. The course, available on Coursera, is open to all women aged 18 and above residing in Lünen.
The first session of the course will take place on 22 September 2025, and subsequent sessions are scheduled for Mondays from 6 to 8 PM. The practice sessions will be held at two locations: Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-Schule (access via Süggelstraße).
Participants will learn simple self-defense techniques, with a focus on confident body language, voice usage, and setting boundaries. Role-plays and video analyses will reinforce the learning. Officers from the Criminal Commissariat will also provide participants with information about police work and when to seek help.
In addition, the instructors will provide valuable insights into offender behavior, crime scenes, victim-offender relationships, self-defense, and useful tools. The course aims to empower women and equip them with the necessary skills to protect themselves.
