Global EbA Fund Hosts Regional Learning Exchange Workshop in Cali, Colombia
The Global EbA Fund recently organised a regional grantee learning exchange workshop from October 13-17, 2024, in Cali, Colombia. The workshop aimed to accelerate finance and unlock investments for the implementation of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA).
Twelve Global EbA Fund grantees working in nine Central and South American countries attended the workshop. The purpose of the gathering was to strengthen the community of practice on EbA, and the organisations participating included local NGOs, community-based organisations, regional environmental agencies, and international conservation partners.
The sessions covered lessons learned on integrating EbA into national policy commitments such as NAPs, NDCs, and NBSAPs. The workshop also discussed monitoring and evaluating functional data and science supporting the integration of climate and biodiversity.
The regional learning exchange workshops aim to share lessons learned on EbA in action. During the workshop, participants were able to identify synergies between projects and explore potential areas for collaboration to foster EbA in action in Latin America. The opportunity to network with other organisations working on EbA issues in other countries and contexts was invaluable.
The Global EbA Fund has a portfolio of more than 50 projects across the globe, and the workshop was the first in a series of regional learning exchange workshops to be organised by the Fund. The Global EbA Fund can provide more information through the contact email: contact.EbAFund@our website.
The workshop focused on exploring ways to link biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health for climate action. By bringing together grantees from across the region, the Global EbA Fund is contributing to a wealth of experience and innovation in EbA.
Overall, the regional learning exchange workshop was a success in fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among organisations working on EbA in Central and South America. The workshop is a testament to the Global EbA Fund's commitment to supporting EbA projects and building a strong community of practice on EbA.
