Bureau of the Royal Household shares fifth update on the health status of Princess Bajrakitiyabha
Princess Bajrakitiyabha Remains Critically Ill After Developing Sepsis
In an update from the Royal Household Bureau on August 19, 2025, it was confirmed that Princess Bajrakitiyabha, also known as Princess Rajasarinee Siribajra, continues to receive medical care at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital of the Thai Red Cross Society.
The princess has been hospitalized since December 2022, when she lost consciousness due to a heart condition during a military dog training session. Since then, she has been in a critical condition, receiving round-the-clock medical care and being kept on life support.
The latest development in her condition occurred on August 9, 2025, when doctors diagnosed her with severe sepsis, a blood infection. To combat this complication, she has been receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics, medication to stimulate and support her blood pressure, renal replacement therapy (dialysis), and assisted respiration. Her lungs and kidneys require continuous support from medical devices and medication.
Despite these efforts, her condition remains critical, and she is under close observation by her medical team. The Royal Household Bureau continues to provide periodic medical updates, emphasising the ongoing careful monitoring of her condition.
However, the statement does not mention any involvement of the royal family or government officials in the princess's care, nor does it indicate any changes in her medical treatment.
This development of severe sepsis was previously made public, and the princess's condition has been a matter of concern for many Thai citizens. Our thoughts remain with the princess and her family during this difficult time.
