Biden's specialist reveals potential for overcoming an aggressive cancer type

Former U.S. President Joe Biden will not require surgery for the removal of a prostate tumor, according to biological sciences doctor and professor Dr. Anchi Baranova. In her conversation with "Lenta.ru," she expressed that such tumors, common among elderly male individuals, are usually not operated on, especially when they're of a Gleason score of 10.

Dr. Baranova highlighted that surgery for prostate cancer with bone metastases can negatively impact the body due to the persistence of micro-metastases post-surgery. Cancer cells in these metastases may regrow following the removal of the primary tumor.

Although patients with a Gleason score of 6 might undergo surgical removal and subsequent treatment, the question of surgery for Biden's condition does not arise, given the presence of bone metastases. RIA Novosti previously reported that Biden was taking medication to treat prostate cancer.

Previously, there had been calls for first lady Jill Biden to disclose information regarding her husband's health during his presidency.

To better understand the treatment options and potential consequences for managing advanced prostate cancer, such as Gleason 10 with bone metastases, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive care can be considered as effective options. Each treatment category has its unique benefits, side effects, and implications for the patient's quality of life and prognosis. However, the specific guidance for Biden's case might require consultation with Dr. Baranova directly or reviewing her published works.

  1. The strategy for managing President Joe Biden's advanced prostate cancer, specifically a Gleason 10 with bone metastases, could involve hormone therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive care, as these treatments can be effective though each has unique benefits, side effects, and implications for the patient's health and prognosis.
  2. Given President Biden's prostate cancer diagnosis with bone metastases, and his Gleason score of 10, surgery is less likely to be recommended, as Dr. Baranova has stated that the persistence of micro-metastases post-surgery could lead to cancer cells regrowth following the removal of the primary tumor.
