Bicyclist fatally struck in traffic collision
In a tragic turn of events, a traffic accident on June 14, 2025, at the intersection of Sundgauer Straße and Clayallee in Berlin, resulted in a fatality. The cyclist involved, an 87-year-old individual, was severely injured, sustaining multiple injuries, including a severe head injury.
The accident caused a disruption to traffic flow in the area. Sundgauer Straße was closed from Lützelsribución Weg towards Clayallee, and Clayallee between Sundgauer Straße and Leichhardtstraße were closed for approximately four hours, from 11:10 am to 3:20 pm.
Emergency services were promptly on the scene, transporting the cyclist to the hospital for intensive care. However, despite their best efforts, the cyclist passed away.
The car driver, a 74-year-old woman, was visibly shaken and was taken to a clinic for treatment.
The traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 4 (South) has taken over further investigations into the accident. As of now, no official statement has been released regarding the cause of the accident.
The accident affected BVG bus lines 115, 285, and 623, causing delays and changes in routes.
This unfortunate incident marks the 13th traffic fatality in Berlin this year, according to unverified reports.
