BD and INS India Collaborate to Improve IV-Line Safety and Nursing Excellence

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) India and the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) India have joined forces to launch the INSPIRE program, a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing IV-line safety and nursing excellence in India.

The program, which kicked off in Pune, brought together over 50 nursing leaders and educators from top hospitals across the city. The first INSPIRE event focused on advancing infusion therapy standards, promoting a culture of safety, and fostering collaboration among nursing professionals.

The INSPIRE program emphasizes the advancement of safe infusion practices by addressing topics such as needle stick injury prevention, infusion safety, and guidelines for preventing catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI). It is being organized across all INS state and city chapters in India.

Col. Binu Sharma, President of INS India, commended BD India for creating a platform that convenes senior nursing heads. He stated that initiatives like INSPIRE are vital for nurturing a safe Infusion therapy culture and empowering upcoming nurses.

Atul Grover, Managing Director of BD India/South Asia, emphasized the INSPIRE initiative's goal of transforming IV-line care practices. He stated that BD helps customers enhance outcomes, lower costs, increase efficiencies, improve safety, and expand access to healthcare.

The Pune CME, part of the ongoing INSPIRE program, included sessions on needle stick injury prevention, infusion safety, and CRBSI guidelines. Experts from leading healthcare institutions shared real-world insights and strategies to improve safety outcomes.

The INSPIRE program will continue through city-based events and in-hospital training. It will culminate in a national recognition ceremony at the INS Conference in November 2025. The program aims to reach over 5,000 nurses across major metros.

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies, advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics, and the delivery of care. The company's purpose is to work with like-minded partners to advance the world of health.
