Baby Chase Returns Home After Successful Heart Surgery with Lifeline Pilots' Help
An 8-month-old baby boy from Lakeville, Minnesota, Chase Byers, recently returned home after a successful surgery in Boston. The Byers family, who considered driving or commercial flights, chose to fly with Lifeline Pilots, a nonprofit staffed with volunteer pilots, ensuring Chase's safety and timely surgery.
Chase was born prematurely with a heart condition - dextro-transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect. A heart surgeon at Boston Children's Hospital expressed confidence in performing an arterial switch procedure, which was successful. Lifeline Pilots, who flew over 1,000 flights last year, concentrated their help in ten Midwest states, including Minnesota. The Byers family encourages other families to advocate for themselves and seek second opinions when necessary. They are currently fundraising to cover the cost of Chase's future care.
Chase Byers is recovering well at home in Minnesota after his surgery in Boston. The Byers family is grateful for the support of Lifeline Pilots and encourages others to consider their services for medical transportation. They continue to raise funds for Chase's future care.
