In a heartwarming tale of perseverance and compassion, we follow the story of Sasho, a 63-year-old Bulgarian man who faced an unexpected health crisis in Germany.

Sasho, who had been homeless for some time, encountered a series of hardships. He developed a swelling between his legs, as large as a basketball, which severely hindered his mobility. The diagnosis from a doctor on the health mobile was an inguinal hernia.

Despite his lack of identification papers or health insurance, a team of doctors from the Israelitic Hospital in Alsterdorf agreed to operate on Sasho. The operation, which took over five hours, revealed that the entire intestine and parts of his stomach were in his groin.

Sasho spent two weeks in intensive care after the operation, fighting a lung infection and developing a wound infection. His recovery was far from easy, but he received support from various sources. The hospital quickly contacted the city's clearing office to clarify the open cost issue, and Sasho's case drew attention from volunteers from the health mobile and Hinz&Kunzt.

The costs of Sasho's treatment have doubled, and it's unclear whether and how much the hospital will be reimbursed. However, the city's housing provider Fördern & Wohnen currently provides 120 places for "particularly vulnerable and sick homeless people" at the winter emergency program site, where Sasho was staying before the operation.

Sasho's current condition is such that he says he is glad to be alive. He expresses his desire to take care of himself to live a little longer. He is now able to attend a weekly medical consultation, go to the health mobile, or the Israelitic Hospital for follow-up care.

This story serves as a reminder of the compassion and care that can be found in the heart of Germany, even for those who are uninsured and without legal papers. It's a testament to the power of community and the human spirit, demonstrating that with help and support, anyone can overcome adversity.

Sasho, with a desire to improve his health and wellness, has started attending weekly medical consultations and making frequent visits to the health mobile and Israelitic Hospital for follow-up care, focusing on managing his chronic-kidney-disease and addressing other chronic-diseases that may arise. Recognizing the importance of fitness-and-exercise in maintaining his overall health, he intends to incorporate regular physical activity into his routine. In addition to addressing his physical health, Sasho also acknowledges the significance of mental-health and may benefit from CBD products, known for their potential therapeutic effects on anxiety and stress, common among individuals facing similar circumstances. The story of Sasho's resilience in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration for people dealing with medical-conditions and chronic-diseases, proving that with help and support, one can find hope and healing in unexpected places.
