Annual rowing event, "Rowing against Cancer 2022," featured a fleet of 68 boats
The fourth edition of the "Rowing Against Cancer" event is set to take place on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, along the picturesque Saale river in Halle, Germany. This charitable rowing competition aims to raise funds for expanding individual offerings for patients at Halle University Medicine.
The regatta will feature 68 rowing boats competing in 61 races, with participation from women's, men's, and mixed teams. The highlight of the event will be a patient race, where two boats will compete to showcase the resilience and determination of cancer survivors.
In addition to the rowing races, the event promises an entertaining supporting program designed to ensure fun and well-being. Cocktails and cake will be part of the festivities, while children can enjoy a bouncy castle, face and tattoo stations, and fresh popcorn. For the first time, a sunscreen bar will also be available to keep everyone protected from the sun.
The event was initially postponed due to the pandemic, but it is now set to return with an added sense of unity and solidarity. An information stand will be set up during the regatta, providing details about the event and the work being done at Halle University Medicine.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the "Oncological Sports and Movement Therapy" at Halle University Medicine, which aims to support cancer patients through physical activity and rehabilitation.
For those interested in learning more about the event, local Halle city event archives, cancer support organizations in Germany, or rowing clubs along the Saale River may provide historical event information.
After the completion of the competitive rowing races, attendees can visit the information stand to learn about the "Oncological Sports and Movement Therapy" at Halle University Medicine, which uses sports and physical activity to aid cancer patients in their recovery. In addition to promoting health-and-wellness and supporting the field of sports, the event's proceeds will also contribute to science, as they will fund research and services at Halle University Medicine.
