A tribute to the Communist Ideology: A Deep Dive into its Principles and Aims

The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) is actively working towards a significant shift in the political and economic landscape of the United States, advocating for a transition from capitalism to socialism [1][3]. This strategy is centred around building broad coalitions, grassroots organizing, and electoral participation, with the ultimate goal of gaining governing power for working-class and marginalized communities.

A key aspect of CPUSA’s approach involves building coalitions among diverse groups, including youth (Millennials and Gen Z), immigrant communities, organized labour, and other progressive forces [1][2]. The aim is to address immediate needs such as rent freezes, universal childcare, public transit, and opposition to billionaire influence and war policies.

In addition to coalition building, CPUSA is also focused on investing in political education and leadership development. Initiatives like the May Day School and Little Red School House Marxist training programs provide ideological and practical training on Marxism-Leninism, political economy, race, immigration, feminism, and youth organization [1].

The party is also actively involved in engaging in mass protests and social movements to build a broad “people’s front” that unites diverse groups against right-wing or reactionary forces. By linking resistance to electoral campaigns that seek to elect “honest working people” rather than corporate-backed candidates, CPUSA aims to create a powerful force for change [3][5].

CPUSA advocates for systemic reforms such as dismantling corporate influence in elections, nationalizing or breaking up large banks, and replacing corporate elites with working-class representatives to create a government “of, by, and for the people.” The party envisions socialism as a system where the country’s great wealth benefits all, accompanied by expanded democratic rights and social justice [5].

The CPUSA sees the ultra-right, which includes the military-industrial complex, the oil and energy industries, pharmaceuticals, sections of the high-tech industry, finance capital, and massive manufacturing and distributive giants, as a threat to democracy and a danger of fascism. The party accuses the ultra-right of using racism, police repression, and restrictions on democratic rights to divide and weaken its opposition [6].

In their efforts to divide and conquer America, CPUSA sees a special role for African Americans, Mexican Americans, and other indigenous peoples, Arabs and Middle Eastern peoples, and women. Chinese-Americans, the elderly, the disabled, and the LGBTQ+ community are also considered as psychologically vulnerable groups in their “all-people’s front” [7].

CPUSA believes that the ultra-right's most important effort is their "appeal to the Christian Right." The ultra-right reduces government spending on the needs of the poor, the nationally and racially oppressed, and the working class, while increasing various forms of subsidy and tax cuts for big corporations and the super-rich [8].

The Communist Program sees the replacement of capitalism by socialism as the only solution to the ultra-right threat. The countries they consider as anti-imperialist include China, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela, South Africa, Congo, Zimbabwe, Angola, Nicaragua, Iran, Russia, etc. [9].

Some critics have raised concerns about CPUSA's plans to use militant cadres like Black Lives Matter and Antifa to impose a secret police regime, making opposition to "democracy" a criminal offense [10]. However, CPUSA maintains that their path to victory lies within the dialectic of the Democratic Party, advocating for the widest possible unity of all class and social forces whose interests run counter to those of the most reactionary section of the transnationals [11].

In a controversial move, CPUSA sees the open border as a way to flood the country with new "democratic voters" who are easier to manipulate because they are poor and desperate [12]. The "all-people's front" includes various victim groups such as labor movement, racially and nationally oppressed people, women, youth, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight people, professionals and intellectuals, seniors, and the disabled [13].
